Sebastian Lettner is a young German artist, who is painting from own photographs that look like very private situations at the first sight, but loose this character by the way in which they are done. Working with a thick brush prevents him from showing too many details. Depicted in a very clear and reduced form the paintings present some sort of emptiness, which invites the beholder to restock it with his own memory. There always seems to be a certain lack of color in his paintings or a sparing use of it, because every lack creates a feeling of longing in which he is interested.
In his paintings, Sebastian Lettner focuses on memory and oblivion, since the charm of everything one remembers always comes from the things he forgets.
He lives and works in Munich, Germany.
